We like to describe it as a place where you’d want your mom to live. And we say that for reason — we built Clover Care for our own family, and we hold up that standard with everything we do.
Below are just some elements that set us apart from other memory care facilities in the Kansas city area.
One-on-One Time
Clover Care has two qualified, loving caregivers on from 6 am to 10 pm, every day of the week. We do this because we want to have the time to spend one-on-one with every resident, every day. Support staff including a personal cook, house manager, owner, operator and activities personnel are present throughout the week giving many opportunities for person centered care and meaningful interactions with residents.
Our caregiving model allows us to do the little things that are unique and important to each individual. Some extra time to prepare for a restful night sleep. The flexibility to sleep in late, and have breakfast served up hot when desired. The time to help out with some exercise; provide a manicure and massage, or to work together on a crossword puzzle.
24×7 Awake Staff
One of the most challenging elements of elder care is managing uncertainty during night time hours. Individual sleep patterns are often erratic, and many are at risk of falling when they awake and are left unattended. For some aging adults, particularly those with dementia, there is a heightened risk of wandering.
There is no catch-all “cure” to handle these issues, but Clover Care has invested in 24×7 awake staff to help ensure the highest levels of security and comfort for your loved one. Our night staff caregivers are dedicated to working the evening shifts and are there to help if a situation should arise.
Personal Space
For elderly adults, having to move into a home for long-term care can be a mental struggle. Some may have trouble dealing with the sudden lack of privacy, the inability to choose something as simple as what TV program they can watch due to a roommate situation, or the lack of space to host a family member for a meal or some quiet time together.
At Clover Care, we believe privacy and personal space should be a right of every individual. We’re pleased that we can offer each resident their own spacious, private bedroom, all located on the main floor. Telephone conversations, quiet naps, family visits, and TV watching can all be conducted in the privacy of their own, warm and spacious room. You can furnish and decorate the room to your liking, or we can furnish it for you.
In addition, we have several common areas, including a great room for visits, games, and exercise class and music therapy. There is a small intimate back room with lots of windows for natural light and bird watching a favorite for families to visit in. There is another space for activities, puzzles, or computer time. We have another family room in the front of the house for visiting or watching something different on TV. Our kitchen and dining room seem to be where all the action takes place, from enjoying meals together to playing Bingo or arts and crafts, always some kind of fun to join in.
The Great Outdoors
Walk outside to one of our decks with lots to see from birds, beautiful flowers, to our resident wildlife. Enjoy the sounds of country with neighboring cows and horses. Our home is situated on nearly an acre in the peaceful setting of western Shawnee.
Home Cooking and Healthy Eating
We not only love home cooking, we insist on it. Clover Care has a personal cook Laura, who is dedicated to menu planning, nutritious meal preparation, and cooking personalized meals our residents thoroughly enjoy. Breakfasts are made to order — just let us know what you feel like today and we’ll cook it up.
We publish a menu each month; we enjoy including our residents favorite choices for recipes, and getting their input on what to create. By feeling apart of the meal preparation our residents enjoy their meals even more.
We enjoy weekly cooking club with our cook. Laura comes up with some fabulous cooking activities that everyone can participate in and enjoy creating something delicious. Some of the favorites we have made are personal lasagnas, mini shepherd’s pie, cherry turnovers, filled croissants, and apple pies.
Live Well!
Our motto is not just words; it is how we embrace everything in the home. Our focus on enriching the mind, through activities, games, conversation and music, is designed to make this chapter in our residents’ lives as rich and fulfilling as possible
