Music therapy has power—especially for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia’s. And it can spark compelling outcomes even in the very late states of the disease. When used appropriately, music therapy can shift mood, manage stress-induced agitation, stimulate positive interactions, facilitate cognitive function, and coordinate motor movements.
At Clover Care we believe so much in the therapeutic effects of music on our Residents that we have scheduled music therapy twice a week provided by music therapist Karen Rehm. Our Residents love their hour with Karen twice weekly and you can see the difference. Our home, following a visit from our music therapist, is full of smiles. You can hear the humming of a tune under ones breath and the brightness in everyone eyes that comes after a meaningful connection with music.
