Alzheimer Care Home In Kansas City: Halloween and Fall Fun with Seniors

As an Alzheimer care home in Kansas City, our facility at Clover Care Home is ready to have some fall fun with our senior residents. The holiday season can bring about great memories for those living with Alzheimer’s Disease. We understand that Halloween and the fall season can be fun for our Alzheimer’s residents, and have some fun ideas on how to keep creating those holiday memories with them as part of our life enrichment program.
Halloween can be a fun and scary holiday for seniors living with Alzheimer’s, so knowing where to draw the line at keeping the holiday fun and safe is key. Going overboard with decorations that are bright, flashy, and scary (including unexpected screams) can make a person with Alzheimer’s wander away from a safe area. At Clover Care Home, we make sure that our holiday decorations are festive, but not scary. This can include anything from colorful and simple paper chains, fall door wreaths and table décor, and pumpkin painting!
We strive to include our Alzheimer’s residents in every activity, so making sure fall fun and Halloween activities are simple is key. Making crafts that are simple with few steps allows our residents to enjoy the community aspect of creating something fun and engaging them mentally in something new. Our staff helps to make sure this process is fun by explaining each step one at a time, and are simple and easy to accomplish in a short period of time.
Our Alzheimer care home in Kansas City understands that participation in creative outlets are an important aspect of memory care. We love carving pumpkins, but the activity itself can be harmful due to sharp knives and lessening muscle strength over time. Instead, we focus on no-carve activities like painting pumpkins, or using stickers to decorate them in a fun way!
Another way to ensure our residents living at our Alzheimer care home in Kansas City enjoy Halloween and fall fun is to include them in traditional fall food prep. Our residents enjoy making apple cider, pumpkin pie and Halloween cookies together with our in-house cook, Laura. She also includes our residents’ favorite fall recipes into the menu rotation as well.
Celebrating yearly holidays like Halloween and the fall season can be fun and engaging for our residents. When looking for an Alzheimer care home in Kansas City with many different services, you’ll want to make sure that normal activities as well as seasonal activities are included so your loved one can enjoy them too.
If you are looking for an Alzheimer care home in Kansas City, contact us today to schedule an appointment to visit our facility, or feel free to call at (913) 991-2605 with any questions you have regarding our facility.

The care our mom has received at Clover Care has been nothing short of exceptional. The country setting helps to add to the inviting atmosphere in which our mom has thrived. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable and caring. Clover Care has made a difficult situation seem like a natural transition in life. We would recommend it to anyone looking for long term care of a loved one.
